Hello! First of all, thanks for taking an interest in this blog and making it to the about page. My name is Willem R. J. Vermeulen, and I am a PhD researcher at the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute who is currently researching divorce. I have studied Computer Science and Computational Science, but my heart lies in history and demography. So… Why not combine both?
My ambition with this blog is to create a place where I can both share my own bits of historical and demographic research, as well as much larger scale projects in which I use computational techniques to process and analyze history. By doing such model-driven analysis I hope to find new and substantiate old insights into such large-scale behavior that can be useful in the present day. I do this because I believe in open science.
